Years of front-of-house experience across a range of dining concepts — from casual chains to upscale steakhouses — built a foundation in hospitality, guest relations, and high-volume service that has shaped how I think about customer experience, team dynamics, and operational execution to this day.
Serving & Guest Experience
Across every restaurant I worked in, the core of the job was the same: make the guest feel taken care of. Whether it was a casual weeknight dinner at BJ's or a special occasion at Alexander's Steakhouse, the standard I held myself to was attentive, personalized service that made people want to come back.
Managing multiple tables simultaneously in high-volume environments taught me how to prioritize under pressure, communicate clearly with a team, and stay composed when things didn't go according to plan — skills I've carried into every professional role since.
Bartending
Bartending added a different dimension to my hospitality experience — managing bar operations, crafting cocktails, and serving as the social anchor of the room during busy service periods. A good bartender reads the room, manages pace, and makes every guest feel like a regular.
Working behind the bar also meant developing deep product knowledge — spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail construction — and using that knowledge to guide guests toward choices they'd enjoy and upsells that made sense for the occasion.
Floor Management
Taking on floor management responsibilities meant stepping back from individual tables and thinking about the whole room — table rotation, staff coordination, guest issue resolution, and keeping service running smoothly during peak periods.
This was my first real experience in a leadership role, and it taught me how to support a team under pressure, make quick decisions with incomplete information, and hold a high standard without micromanaging. Those lessons have been foundational.
